Permeable Pavers

About Permeable Pavers: Permeable interlocking pavers use specialized bricks and spaces between each paver to allow for storm water management. The joints of the pavers are filled with granite chips which allows water to flow from the surface down into the sub-base aggregate. They are installed onto open-graded bases without fines which allows water storage under the surface. The water can be either infiltrated back into the sub-grade or moved through a system of underlying PVC pipe.

Design Considerations: For landscaping architects, these pavers come in a variety of products and colors for visual appeal. They need a permeable surface for filtrating water, a base to stabilize the surface, a level sub-grade and a system to prevent flooding. Fine aggregate in between interlocking pavers will help infiltrate the stormwater and can help fill in gaps for aesthetics and safety.

When To Use:
Permeable pavers are best used in areas with high flooding or potential for rain. Since it mimics the way that natural ground absorbs water, permeable pavers are useful for small commercial developers looking to keep buildings safe from stormwater and are great to use for sidewalks, walkways and parking lots. Permeable pavers are also great for outdoor living spaces, as they can add an extra layer of protection around your home against floods.

Permeable Pavers in North GeorgiaPermeable pavers are great for low-traffic areas like parking lots and sidewalks, and therefore can be used around either commercial properties or private real estate. Fortress Walls has installed permeable pavers all over north Georgia, including Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Alpharetta, Duluth and Norcross.
